Name and Grade
Ms. Lissette Lopez • 7th/8th Grade Social Studies
Where are you From?
I was born here in Chicago. However, my parents as well as my siblings are from Mexico, so I consider myself Mexican-American.
If you could travel to anywhere in the world, where would it be?
If I could travel anywhere I would go to Europe. I long to see many of the places I study about with my students in person; for example, Greece and Rome. It would give me the opportunity to grow as a person and educator. Providing me with the ability to bring eyewitness information and current pictures into the classroom which I feel is a valuable tool.
What is one book that everyone must read?
A book I enjoyed reading was called “Who Moved My Cheese.” I enjoyed it becuase it talks about change and how to cope with change in an organization.
Who was your favorite teacher growing up?
My favorite teacher was my fourth grade teacher; Mr. Altamirano. I still remember him because he made learning fun. Thanks to him I learned my multiplication tables well.
What do you like most about Goudy?
I enjoy working at Goudy School for many reasons. However, the main reason is that it allows me the opportunity to work with students from a variety of cultures. As a Social Studies teacher I feel this gives students an extra edge when learning about different ethnicities. They do not have to rely on me or the book for their information, but are able to give a lot of their own input through their own experiences. In addition, the staff, parents, and atmosphere are very warm and inviting.
